RULES FOR RECRUITMENT

PROGRAMME

DISCIPLINES

The School is an organized form of education in nine disciplines (which have been awarded minimum B+ scientific category):

  1. forestry sciences
  2. agriculture and horticulture
  3. food technology and nutrition
  4. veterinary medicine
  5. animal science and aquaculture
  6. mechanical engineering
  7. environmental engineering, mining engineering and power engineering
  8. biological sciences
  9. economics and finance
  10. biotechnology

LIMITS OF ADMISSIONS

Limits of admissions in individual disciplines specified in paragraph 1 are dependent particularly on the available funding for research related to the planned doctoral dissertation of the PhD student and the PhD degree conferral procedure as well as a sufficient number of teaching hours as the required teaching load for the placement of the PhD student at the organisational unit, in which the PhD dissertation will be prepared within the selected discipline.

In the academic year 2024/2025 recruitment will be conducted within the following disciplines:

QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

The following principles of the recruitment procedure will be followed:

1) the candidate's accomplishments in studies – evaluated based on the supplement to the second-cycle or long-term Master's studies graduation diploma or a document specified in point 3 of this notice; in the case of individuals specified in Article 186(2) of the Act accomplishments in studies are evaluated based on the first-cycle study graduation diploma supplement - arithmetic score points:

2) scientific activity – evaluated based on documented activity in scientific associations and clubs, authorship of scientific papers and communications, taken courses, internships, scientific stays and placements as well as other accomplishments – maximum 3 accomplishments indicated by the candidate
or certified work experience in case of candidates for "implementation doctorate" programme

- max. 30 points

 

3) the interview – concerning particularly the concept for the PhD dissertation and the represented discipline, it is held in Polish or English and It may be held at the School premises or be conducted using electronic communicators facilitating video image and sound transmission.

- max. 50 points

• evaluation of the presented concept for the future PhD dissertation –

max. 30 points

• evaluation of general knowledge in the represented scientific discipline

– max. 20 points

Total: 100 points

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Recruitment stages:

  1. Submission of documents by the candidates
  2. Verification of documents and admission of candidates to the recruitment procedure
  3. Oral English examination (failure to pass the language examination excludes the candidate from further stages of the recruitment process)
  4. An interview in Polish or English

STEP BY STEP

  1. complete the necessary documents to enrollment process to the Poznań University of Life Sciences Doctoral School (see ADMISSIONS tab)
  2. authorized or stamped apostille your diploma (more info)
  3. have a preliminary approval by the scientific supervisor from the Poznań University of Life Sciences – to find supervisor you can contact the Chairmen of the respective discipine
  4. choose the research subject for the doctoral dissertation and prepare a frame project of PhD thesis with the schedule – in consultation with the potential supervisor
  5. register online – https://wu.up.poznan.pl/rekrutacja-eng/
  6.  wait for the information by e-mail on the date, time and place/form of the examination in English language and the interview
  7. take part in the English language examination and the interview
  8.  wait for the recruitment results in the form of a ranking list, indicating candidates enrolled to the 1st year
  9.  submit the originals of application documents to the School office
  10.  use the official Confirmation of admission to get your visa (visa procedures)
  11. book the dormitory if the day of your arrival is confirmed (more info)

SCHOLARSHIPS

Issues concerning the period, for which a PhD scholarship is granted as well as its minimum amount, are regulated by the Act.

Each PhD student without a doctoral degree receives a doctoral scholarship. The current rates at PULS for PhD students admitted within the limit of admissions are PLN 3,194.64 net per month until obtaining a positive mid-term evaluation and  PLN 4,739.51 net per month after obtaining a positive mid-term evaluation. 

The total period of receiving a doctoral scholarship may not exceed 4 years. The period of suspension and the period of education at the doctoral school are not included in this period.

A PhD student with a certificate of disability, a certificate of the degree of disability or a certificate of professional and social rehabilitation and employment of people with disabilities, receives a doctoral scholarship in the amount increased by 30%.

The amount of the PhD scholarship may be increased in the case of outstanding accomplishments of the PhD student. The decision in this respect is made by the Rector at the motion of the Director evaluated by the Committee of the respective discipline.

PhD students may apply for the Minister's scholarship for outstanding young researchers granted to PhD students by the minister for higher education and science in accordance with the rules specified in the Act. Such an application by the PhD student should receive a positive opinion by the scientific council of the respective discipline.

PhD students may be granted scholarships by local government units in accordance with the rules specified in the Act.

PhD students may be granted scientific scholarships by physical or legal persons not being state or local government entities in accordance with the rules specified in the Act.
