Principles of conduct in Student Dormitories in the case of a suspected COVID-19 infection

 

  1. If an individual staying in a Student Dormitory is suspected to be infected with the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19, the Manager of the Student Dormitory or a person he/she appointed shall promptly contact the competent District Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Poznań by calling one of the following EMERGENCY NUMBERS:

  1. A suspected infection or disease means any case which occurred after January 9, 2020 in which an individual may display the following characteristics:
  • a body temperature over 38°C (100.4°F);
  • symptoms of a respiratory tract infection, i.e.: presence of one or more symptoms of a respiratory disease (e.g. cough, shortness of breath, difficulties in breathing or radiological symptoms of pneumonia or acute respiratory distress syndrome, ARDS);
  • the individual traveled to areas impacted by 2019-nCoV within 14 days preceding the onset of symptoms;

OR

  • within 14 days preceding the onset of symptoms, the individual had a close contact with a person who displayed respiratory symptoms and traveled to areas impacted by 2019-nCoV, or with a person who is now under observation for 2019-nCoV.

A contact shall mean: the contact with respiratory secretions or body fluids of a person suspected to have a disease caused by 2019-nCoV; taking care of that person; or living together with that person. This shall also include cases of traveling together with a person suspected to have a disease caused by 2019-nCoV.

 

  1. If an individual staying in a Student Dormitory is suspected to be infected with the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19, the Manager of the Student Dormitory or a person he/she appointed shall close the Student Dormitory to prevent any third parties and all persons staying in the Student Dormitory from entering or leaving it.
  2. The Manager of the Student Dormitory or a person he/she appointed shall deliver disposable personal protective equipment to all employees staying in the Student Dormitory where a suspected infection was identified.
  3. In the event of a suspected infection, antiviral sanitizer, disposable personal protective equipment and information brochures requiring strict compliance with adequate measures shall be delivered to all rooms in the Student Dormitory.
  4. The individual suspected to be infected with the coronavirus responsible for COVID-19 shall be equipped with disposable personal protective equipment. In particular, he/she shall wear a protective face mask and be moved to a dedicated zone/room/area in order to isolate persons suspected to be infected from other people staying in the Student Dormitory.
  5. The Manager of the Student Dormitory or a person he/she appointed shall prepare rooms in a dedicated zone/room/area for the staff of the Student Dormitory in order to isolate the staff allocated to the dedicated zone/room/area from other staff members staying in the Student Dormitory upon detecting a case of suspected infection.
  6. While waiting for health safety services to arrive and for further guidelines from them (especially with respect to quarantine), the Manager of the Student Dormitory or a person he/she appointed shall promptly report all needs to the Chancellor, to the Facilities Maintenance and Purchasing Department and to the Management of the PULS in order for them to organize any and all essential cleaning products and food for persons staying in the Student Dormitory where an infection was detected. Other Departments and persons shall provide the Manager with essential support in accessing necessary equipment to ensure his/her own and other persons’ safety.
  7. Any matters nor regulated hereunder shall be governed by the provisions of: the Act of December 5, 2008 on preventing and eliminating infections and communicable diseases in humans (Journal of Laws [Dz.U.] of 2019, item 1239); the Ordinance of the Minister of Health of December 10, 2019 on reporting suspected and confirmed cases of infections, communicable diseases and related deaths (Journal of Laws [Dz.U.] of 2019, item 2430); the Ordinance of the Minister of Health of December 16, 2019 on reporting positive tests for biological pathogens in humans (Journal of Laws [Dz.U.] of 2019, item 2465); and the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector available at https://gis.gov.pl.
