USEFUL INFORMATION

DORMITORIES (STUDENTS HALLS OF RESIDENCE)

PULS has 3 dormitories for students (named JURAND, DANUŚKA, MAĆKO) which are located ten minutes away from the main Campus. You can choose within 3 accommodation types:

  1. DOUBLE ROOM – 470 PLN per month
  2. SINGLE ROOM – 580 PLN per month
  3. STUDIO FLAT – 1350 PLN per month

    Rooms

    In your bedroom you will find:  a single bed, a desk, a table, two chairs, two bookshelves, one wardrobe, a food cupboard, blinds, a radiator and a fridge. You can also ask for a free of charge bed linen which will be washed for you once a month.

    There is also a bathroom with a sink, a toilet and a shower to share between two rooms.

    All bills and the INTERNET are included in the price of your room.

    There is a possibility to rent an studio flat which has two big and fully equipped rooms, your own kitchen and a private bathroom.

    Common kitchens

    There is common kitchen on each floor of the building where you can use electric stoves and a sink.

    Other facilities

    There are quiet study rooms open for student’s in each Dormitory. If you want to play basketball, tennis, volleyball or football, you will find the University courts nearby (you can rent a ball or other equipment at the dormitory administration room).

    There are barbecue places opened for students behind the dormitories. You can also use one of the halls/lounges supplied with chairs, tables and TVs inside the dormitory buildings. There is only one rule for users of all common areas – clean up after yourself!

The university also has places in dormitories located in Golęcin:

The Przylesie Residence Hall is located at Wojska Polskiego 85, close to the Poznań city centre, at the boundary of two districts: Sołacz and Golęcin, known for their considerable share of green and recreation areas. We provide accommodation in  single, double and triple rooms with bathrooms. All rooms are furnished and equipped with a fridge. Bathrooms are equipped with showers, washbasins and toilets. A public kitchen is located at each floor. A launderette, a quiet study room and a meeting room are also available. Residents may use wireless Internet service, parking spaces, a volleyball court as well as a barbecue area and bike shelters. The Przylesie residence hall houses the Forestry Students’ Science Club (Koło Leśników) and the Venator Hunting Horn Ensemble. The main administrative building including the Rector’s Office and a complex of faculty buildings housing various departments of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology are located nearby.  

The Assistant, PhD Student and Student Residence Hall Sadyba is situated next to the Przylesie residence hall. It has regular single and double rooms as well as guest rooms. This building also houses a clinic and a crèche. The administration offices for the buildings are located in the Przylesie residence hall. The buildings are situated in the immediate vicinity of the PULS Dendrological Garden as well as the Golęcin Wood (Lasek Golęciński) with Lake Rusałka and the Olimpia sports complex (tennis courts, a track and field stadium, a football field). The main administrative building of the Poznań University of Life Sciences, Collegium Maximum, with the Rector’s Office as well as a complex of faculty buildings housing various departments of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology are located nearby.   

Public transport, bus lines 160, 164 or 195; a bus stop of lines 182,191 and 193 and a tram stop of lines 11 and 9 are situated nearby.

PESEL NUMBER

PESEL is an unique identification number that is assigned to every individual residing in Poland (as well to foreigners residing in Poland for at least 3 months). It includes personal identifying data such as: date of birth, gender and assignment number, uniquely identifying the person. You need this number in order to obtain your (PhD) student’s identity card.

Assigning a PESEL number is free of charge.

Deadline and methods of the procedures – your application will be accepted and processed immediately.

What you must prepare:

R an application for the assigning of a PESEL Number – download and fill it out at home. You can also obtain the application at the municipality/township office.

R a document, which confirms your identity and other data entered in the application form.

PHD STUDENT CARD

To receive your PhD student ID card you need to check the status of your photo in the Virtual Dean's Office. If your photo has been rejected you need to upload it again (after logging in to the virtual dean's office, please select "My Data -> Edit").

If you have lost your UID number or password, you can register using the form on the website: https://wu.up.poznan.pl/register.php to receive a new UID number and password. UID is established during electronic recruitment for studies.

You should also send your PESEL number to legitymacje@up.poznan.pl or visit IT specialist office 122 (first floor in Collegium Maximum).

You can collect your card in the School office.

 

If you are interested in receiving mLegitymacja (your student ID card on your phone) please write an e-mail with that request to legitymacje@up.poznan.pl and provide the following information:

  • your login to the Virtual Dean’s Office
  • your album number
  • your Teams address –  the activation code will be send via Teams (it will not be sent to your e-mail address!)

mLegitymacja –  an ID card on your phone; his document can be activated via the QR code and the activation code received at the University

mLegitymacja works just like a traditional document; by showing it on your smartphone screen you will confirm that you are a PhD student and you will take advantage of discounts

HEALTH INSURANCE

Each PhD student who receives a scholarship is entitled to health insurance.

Being PULS Doctoral School student and receiving a doctoral scholarship you are subject to mandatory retirement, disability and accident insurance. In addition, you have the health insurance. Before starting education, you need to submit a declaration from which the above information can be derived.

You are reported by the University to ZUS, which forwards this information to the NFZ – information about the right to treatment appears in the eWUŚ electronic system. To confirm your entitlement to insurance, you must show your PESEL number when registering with a family doctor or other specialist. You may also receive printed confirmation of insurance coverage from the University Payroll Department.

Notice: in case of a change of data (name, ID card number, address, account number, telephone number, employment status, family status, granting a pension, disability certificate, reaching the age of 26), a new declaration must be submitted within 7 days from the date of this change.

TEMPORARY RESIDENCE CARD (TRC)

When to apply?   
While your stay in Poland is LEGAL – apply no later than on the last day before the expiration:

  • date of your visa,
  • date of previous residence card issued in Poland,
  • of your non-visa traffic (90 days since arriving to Schengen zone)

EU students need to register their stay in Poland longer than 3 months.

Non-EU students need to apply for the temporary residence permit.

Documents required for TRC application:

  • application form,
  • photocopy of your passport (non-EU students) or national ID (EU students) (original needs to be shown),
  • proof of payment of the stamp duty – 340 PLN,
  • 4 biometric photos (face front, not older than 6 months),
  • current proof of valid health insurance (EU students – European Insurance Card),
  • current documents confirming financial resources (bank account statement,  credit card with sufficient credit limit, scholarship etc.),
  • current confirmation letter from university (in Polish),
  • proof of payment of the University tuition fee (if applicable),
  • a filled in and signed declaration regarding the amount of accommodation costs (for students who are not using dormitory accommodation)

 

Procedure for non-EU students:

  • the application must be filed PERSONALLY ONLY (fingerprinting the foreigner is a prerequisite for the consideration of the application),
  • all the documents are to be submitted in Polish or together with the official translation,
  • application with all the documents required can be sent via post but no later than on the last day of your legal stay in Poland (Poczta Polska registered mail); sending application via post, does not make your stay legal in Poland - originals of documents must be presented, and fingerprints are required to be provided.
  • The further procedure for both EU and non-EU students:

  • procedure time: the proceedings shall not exceed of 5 months (if otherwise – you will be notified),
  • decision letter – after the decision:
    • submit a registration of your address (zameldowanie) or choose to have your card printed without the address,
    • pay for the card (25 PLN),
    • the card is issued approx. 2-4 weeks after the decision is given,
    • claim your card personally only.
  • How long is the permit granted for?

  • first residence permit is issued for 15 months,
  • second permit can be granted for up to 3 years of time,
  • if the academic year is shorter than one calendar year, the first permit is issued for its duration and an additional period of three months,
  • in your graduation year the permit shall be granted until the graduation date.
  • Please remember, that a foreigner may not have the possibility of obtaining another temporary permit if they failed the examinations in the first year of their studies. The decision in this case depends on the individual situation of a foreigner.

    Financial resources:

    701 PLN per month, after deducting cost of residence, with reference to the period of studies:

  • official scholarship,
  • current bank statement from a bank situated in Poland – signed and stamped by a bank representative,
  • certificate from a bank with the information about the limit on your credit card,
  • original of the certificate + official translation into Polish,
  •  200 PLN for the return ticket (for countries neighbouring Poland) or 2500 PLN for the return ticket (for other coutries).

WI-FI

There are 3 wireless networks visible on the PULS campus:

  • UPPOZ_wifi (network for University guests, also dedicated to older devices, conferences and occasional Internet connection),
  • UPPOZ_sec (network for employees, PhD students and students of PULS),
  • eduroam (network for guests if they take part in the Eduroam program).

 

Rules for logging in to UPPOZ_sec (recommended) and UPPOZ_wifi (login in a web browser):

  • PhD students using PULS e-mail system can use their credentials, i.e. firstname.surname is login and the password is common for both systems,
  • PULS students use their UID numbers as a login, the password is the last 5 digits of PESEL + initials written with a capital letter (first name, surname, e.g. Adam Smith with PESEL 01234567890, enter 67890AS as the password).

 

Connecting with UPPOZ_sec on your phone/tablet, to activate "connect" button you need to:

  • on Android mobile devices select an additional option “certificate – do not validate”,
  • on IOS mobile devices display the certificate to be accepted.

LIBRARY

The collections of the PULS Library are available:

• by presentation (on site in the Reading Room),

• through individual loans (outside),

• through interlibrary loans to other libraries and institutions,

• by electronic means with the use of IT technology.

In order to use the Library facilities you need to have a valid library card (free of charge for students, PhD students, and employees). Readers may register at the Circulation Desk.
